I have a 96 Mazda 626 and it is almost impossible to get gas into the tank! The auto shut-off keeps cutting the nozzle off…no matter how slow you try to run the gas or what position you put the nozzle in. Different stations makes no difference. Ideas?

There is a problem with the tank filler neck, or the tank. It could be the anti-spill valve, or an obstruction, or the vent tube is dented or dislodged, etc.
The filler neck, and tank, needs to be examined by a knowledgeable mechanic.

There is a check-valve in the filler neck that can stick in the closed position. Sometimes you can run a flexible rod down the filler neck and dislodge the stuck check-ball. A bicycle flag fiberglass whip works good…
