# Ford security key?

Kids 07 focus would not crank. Then they mentioned key broke. They put pieces together and it cranks. Well, starts too. So, this is security key? Drove it this morning with broke key. Would not start this afternoon.

It looks like it is a transponder chip key. Found answer here…

I can’t program new key unless I have 2 keys to start.

Any local garage with IDS (Ford scan tool) can program 2 new keys. Or a quality mobile locksmith.
