Dear All,

I have a Ford Escort 2000, automatic, 82k miles. The car is in excellent shape.

A month or two ago I noticed that when I’m about to stop, and the car shifts down from 2nd to 1st, sometimes you feel that it pulls a bit. The same happens sometimes when I’m accelerating and it shifts up from 1st to 2nd.

I haven’t changed the transmission fluid ever. Could that solve the issue? Could it be something more serious?

Thank you so much for your input.

 Cheers!

When you say ‘pulls a bit’, do you mean the car wants to overpower the brakes or you get a jerk? Is it a ‘jerk’ when shifting from 1st to 2nd?

More specific information will help us help you.

I get a subtle jerk. It’s subtle but you notice it anyway.
Thanks.
