So I was hoping someone can help on my 2006 Ford escape automatic transmission it turns on great everything works except when I put it on drive and reverse it won’t go anywhere I know I need a transmission oil change but could that all be wrong with it or can it be something else too? I want to go get advice on it but I feel like all the mechanics are gonna tell me is that I need a new transmission which i want to try other things to see it could be something small before I put money into a new transmission.

Have you even verified the correct automatic transmission fluid level . . . ?!

That is exactly what they are going to tell you because, unfortunately, that is likely true. Sorry

Remove the transmission dip stick and check the color/smell of the transmission fluid.

You don’t want it to be black with a burnt odor.
