had a 95 cutlas and ignition locked. broke it. took a pair of vice grips and clamped the two peices of wire together. fired right up a mechanic told me it was impossible that the decoder module was bad then. anyone ever heard of this is there really a resistor in those keys or is it just a chunk of metal the dealers can charge u a few hundred bucks for

According to this drawing, there is an ‘inhibitor switch’ in the ignition switch on the Cutlass Supreme: [http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280068209](http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280068209)

IT is possible if someone put a resister in-line, and cut the wires that go up to the lock ( bypassing the loop that the resister in key generally closes ).

This is often done when after market alarms are installed, or someone is too frugal to replace a malfunctioning lock cylinder.

We charge 25.00 for these type keys

It is not “fake”
