Engines running "backwards"

Yes, the camshaft would have to be backwards as well, or you would be drawing air into the exhaust and out the intake.

But I’m sure one will turn up. This is one of those things that will nag me for years if I don’t resolve it now.

When I was in school I stripped an old Detroit 6-71 inline and noticed all front & back holes in the block were symetrical. The instructor said turn the block around 180 degrees stuff all the parts back in and now you have an engine that runs backwards for marine applications.
