i’m not really sure how to check my ignition advance. in my case it’s controlled by a brain in the driver side fenderwell with vacuum. i can check that it holds a vacuum i suppose. i do know it does advance the timing. i could see the timing move when i was playing with the throttle and timing light.
Sometimes the process of replacing the fuel pump can dislodge gunk which gets into the fuel lines and clogs the fuel filter, and possibly some could sneak through to the carb too. If I had your symptoms on my Ford truck, and given the work you’ve recently had done, the first thing I’d try, I’d replace the fuel filter (even though it is fairly new) and install a replacement or rebuilt carb. There’s an excellent chance those two changes will immediately fix these symptoms.
