Engine Braking When Slowing in BumperToBumper Traffic

That is changing quickly. This 2020 article says the UK now buys more autos than manuals.

Same for Europe and the rest of the world per this 2023 article…

What does that have to do with anything? I know things are changing. Maybe the traffic will get worse too. I’m talking about how things are or were in Europe. Automatics were rare like manuals in the US 20 years ago. And France uses helicopters to give tickets to tail gaters. That helps too.

Which is not true nor was your original statement the “most of the cars are manual over there” which is what I was replying to.

I could also have added that traffic jams are just as bad as in the US and have been for some time. For example: Fighting through traffic in Frankfurt at rush hour looks and feels exactly like the US. Plodding along in slow Friday afternoon traffic with the roads loaded with cars pulling little camping trailers going on holiday for the weekend. Or fighting for parking spaces in Munich mid-town. And then there is Paris… holy crepes!.. the roads are jammed with crazy people. Or Birmingham in the UK; Same clogged streets as in any US city.
