My mechanic has replaced the DPFE sensor in my 2001 Mazda Tribute 3 times. Each time he found water in the sensor which has caused it to short out. The EGR valve has also been replaced. He doesn’t know what to try next. Any ideas?

I assume the water is getting in the sensor due to condensation. Can the sensor position be changed so any water will drain out of it instead of being trapped in it?

If in fact the PDFE is failing do to condensation. Then it is probably do to very short trips that is not allowing the exhaust system to heat up enough to dry out the condensate in the exhaust.

Hopefully Ford has ditched this dumb part on its new vehicles. Its always been a problem.
