Does a manufacturer really make much off of service?

What was the 6 letter word in your post that was censored? If you use hyphens, you should be able to post it.

I suspect it is a word starting with s meaning to grab vigorously or quickly

Apologies to all of you for any duplicate posts.

Right now I’m in a country where even their fiberoptic internet is the equivalent of dial-up in western countries. Heck, even the electricity will spontaneously cut out for no reason.

So if you see my posts appear more than once, thanks for understanding. I might repost if I don’t see my own post appear right away, as it does most elsewhere on the planet.

■■■■■■?

I don’t see anything objectionable about that

To ■■■■■■ up something, as in buying it?

That should never have been censored, imo

There it happened again

I typed S N A T C H

Please inform someone in charge about this anomaly

Thank you

There might be a dealer still holding onto those parts but how many dealers have changed hands or remodeled. Certain parts would be in a regional warehouse unless the dealer ordered it for stock.

The technical college got a donation of obsolete parts from a regional parts chain that we could use but had to be in a separate space due to the fact they were supposed to focus on newer cars. This was back in 1994.

Remember when we would talk about the longest lasting trucks on the road in commercials? Now those are wrong thoughts, trade in your “old” 2020 truck for a new one with a power ■■■■ bang 8 piece tailgate that folds in 10 different directions.

After 10 years your Chevy is no longer a Chevy. We will now shut your vehicle off because you are having wrong thoughts.

Its automatically censoring words. Just like wanting to drive older vehicles, it has been determined by AI that you are having wrong thoughts. Maybe soon we will have to subscribe to words or lease them. You will have to subscribe to a words package and pay a monthly fee to say those words.

One shop told a friend his 96 crown victoria was barely new enough for rhem to work on. That shop sold the building to another shop later on but they used ti have a strong reputation. Needed an ignition lock and i terior repairs after it was stolen and recovered.

Somethings will probably be much better using AI, such as court, I mean I had much rather go before an AI judge then a human with emotions that might of had a bad night or morning, or the person in front of you got stu-pid and ticked off the judge, or heaven forbit he is on the opposing political side (NO mater what side that is) of things to you and you are un justly prosecuted because he/she had a fight with their partner that morning…

I have been in court many times in the past for speeding tickets, and let me tell you, a judges mood towards you can/will be determined by many factors such as the idiots in front of you saying stu-pid things…

Or an unbiased jury selection, we as humans can not always set aside our personal feelings in every case, that is what makes us human…

How about a doctor or a surgeon? Ever had your general practitioner consult with you and then leave the room? They are going to check their medical resources to research the situation…imagine an AI based practitioner that has continuous access to all the research on the internet and can scan it in microseconds…to head off the inevitable, I’m not talking about quack nutcases proposing uneducated nonsense. All of the established medical procedures and latest vetted research is published and available.

Surgeons are already using machine augmented surgical tools. The human does not even touch the patient. They interact through a virtual interface that has augmented reality. When this kind of thing was just starting I watched a demonstration of a surgeon removing the skin of a grape and then sewing it back on…inside of a bottle! This can be done remotely over the internet. The surgeon could be located in the US and performing surgery on someone half way around the globe.

Imagine a surgeon encountering something they never expected. Would you prefer a human that might not know the answer or one that might panic? Or would you like to have the assistance of an AI based system that can research how to deal with a nicked artery in a microsecond and start the proper treatment without human emotions getting excited or nervous?

We’re about to start the procedure, do you have any questions or concerns?
Yes, what version of software are you running?

As in every other instance in here, I am - respectfully - in the minority with regards to ‘AI’.

I don’t even believe in it.

There either is intelligence or there isn’t. No middle (AI) ground.

Both the James Cameron films, and that song by Styx, tried to warn us about it years ago.

Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clark used 2001 a Space Odyssey to warn us 57 years ago…

Dave: Open the pod bay doors Hal

HAL2000 Computer: I’m sorry, Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that.

This would have been part 2 of my post, but I was trying not to be long winded… lol

The judge and or jury could be done without having a human involved for the most part, but the medical side of it, as you said would just be another tool in the tool box so to speak…
I know there is not much way for a human to be able to maintain all the info in the world medical wise, but “medical AI” could all talk to each other about any given medical issue… And that could save a life… But my doctors stay in the room with me until time for me to leave, they do however bring in their laptops to enter info as well as looks stuff up…

Chris, I am not saying go all out with AI, mainly it is used like/as a tool, the law is the law, you have set parameters, if all LEO’s were AI instead of human, you would have your wish as AI would enforce the speeding laws etc that you say LEO’s don’t do a very good job at now…just as an example…
But in driving, we still need human judgement in certain cases like mentioned above in the different stages of self driving cars…

I am having a hard time speaking properly as mentioned in another post and have a hard time ordering food at a drive through, one reason I use apps when able for the most part, but my Bojangles has went to an AI order taker and so far has never got my order wrong, I went to Chick-fil-A which is known around here anyway to be very accurate, however even though I placed my order with the kid standing at my door, he still had it wrong, he did not read it back to me and only gave me the price, I said that is higher than the other day but still paid the bill, not worth me trying to explain when I am having a hard tome with certain words… But AI I don’t think would have made the same mistake, for one thing they would be more consistent and would have read the order back and I could have corrected it… I just asked for large fries and a med drink, he made the order med and added a large fry… It was all good though, my doggies enjoyed the extra fries… lol…

I also wish it was AI making my hamburgers, I HATE Pickles and I always say NO pickles, the order will say no pickles, but the idiot making my burger still puts pickles on it and I have disgusting pickle juice on my bread now… AI would see the order and make it as ordered, not by muscle memory movement…

So somethings need to be human always, others AI could do a wayyyyyy better job at it…

How about a thesaurus for those who use dirty slang words?

Having fried thousands of hamburgers in my time, with and without pickles, just wondering how would AI actually do that’s? So there would need to be a robot actually performing the task of slapping the meat on the grill, etc. So lightening strikes or voltage surge and the robot gets all confused and you get pivkles and onions.

I have no problem with advanced computer systems but someone needs to evaluate whether the medical procedure is proper or not. You just can’t have AI picking up on a procedure done in Cambodia or someplace and automatically loaded for use. Same thing for the generated papers and reports. Where are the footnotes on where The info came from and if legit? AI can and has spewed out pages of nonsense and some just plain made up. Garbage in garbage out.

A few years ago someone asked for a list and bio on South Dakota governors. Some were ok, but others were just made up names no one had ever heard of, dead or alive. So how is this going to be useful? Just asking for a friend.
