My daughter has a 2004 Toyota Corolla and the “service engine” light came on. The diagnosis was that the water pump needed to be replaced. She was charged $400 for the pump and eight hours labor to install it. Is that reasonable?

An Genuine Toyota OEM water pump should have been under $200 retail, and closer to $150, based on what I found. Aftermarket parts runs less than $100.

Cannot comment on labor.
