Conventional to Synthetic after 7 years?

That sounds nice but the guy underneath is the one tightening or not the drain plug and filter or double gasketing the filter. Hard to tell also how much oil the guy under the hood is putting in or not, or what oil is being pumped in. As I change oil, I make definite mental notes to myself when I complete each task. If I get all done and I can’t specifically remember doing some, I have crawled back under the car to double check. Anyone can forget to put the plug in or tighten it, young and old.

Years ago at the dealership, we had more than one shop foreman, probably because of the number of mechanics

Anyways, due to some ugly things going on at the time, one of them was forced to go back to wrenching, after spending several years only performing administrative duties

He was having a really hard time transitioning back to it, and at one point he forgot to put the engine oil drain plug back, refilled the correct quantity of engine oil and promptly started the engine . . .

Occasionally, when performing a preventative maintenance service at my current job, I’ll find a vehicle that has a loose engine oil drain plug, meaning it was snugged up flush with the pan, but wasn’t actually tightened.

The first thing I do is go look up who did the last oil change. It wasn’t ever me . . . but I’ve naturally made other mistakes over the years . . . but I won’t tell the guy. I’ll keep that to myself. I just do it to satisfy my curiosity.
