My Consumer Reports Buying Guide goes from 2015 to 2010 models. Chrysler minivans are rated better than average to much better than average for Transmission - Major. For Transmission - Minor the ratings vary from much worse than average to much better than average.
I think the bad rap on those transmissions came from some of the earlier years - 1980s and 1990s - of the minivan, and echoes down over the decades.
We have had no trans problems with our previous 1999 Voyager and our present 2007 T&C. In both cases we bought them used and I soon after dropped the pan, put in a new factory filter, and replenished with genuine Mopar trans fluid. Rust, more than reliability or repair problems, is the demise of these vans here in WI and MN.
