Is there a brake fuse or relay that interupts the ignition switch function if blown? ---

The coincidence is that I completely mashed (and presmably shorted) a wiring harness to a trailer that I was hauling, and immediately I could not shift from park to drive with the vehicle running. I had to turn the ignition switch to acc., put it in neutral, then start the van. Now, I cannot start the van at all (I have a brand new battery). The problem appears to be in the switch as opposed to the starter solenoid or battery. The other coincidence is that I just had the van fixed at a Ford dealership for an electrical recall, though I do not know what that entailed.
