I have an '89 F150 and want to buy a code reader for it. Are the OBD2 code readers widely available backward compatible? Will they read the OBD1 codes from my truck?

Also is there a reliable site for reviews on code readers regarding their capabilities, limitations, price, and reliability?

 Thanks for your time.
