I recently had a broken clutch assembly replaced on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. They recommended that I have the hydraulic components (the master and slave cylinder) replaced along with it. Is this necessary, or at least highly recommended? I’m guessing it’s a good idea in general, but I don’t have a heck of a lot of money right now.

I can understand replacing the slave cylinder (as well as the throw-out bearing BTW) since it requires a lot of labor to get at it. The master cylinder is easy, so you can wait on that.

I’m not familiar with your vehicle, but typically those components last the life of the vehicle.
