I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma and there are wierd things happening when I shift into 1st and second. When I try first gear the clutch peddal will be all the way down and the gear will grind and the stick will vibrate hard. also, there is a wierd fluttering sound when I let off the clutch and engage the gas (1st and second gear). This goes away when the truck gets going. The transmission seems fine, it is just when I use the clutch do I encounter issues?

If you can shift into first and second gear with no problem without the engine running, it’s a clutch problem. Either hydraulic or mechanical or both.

I have the same truck I can shift into any gear without the engine running, and without the clutch down.
