# Chirping Rally Cars

i’ve been watching quite a few clips of rally racing – what causes the “chirping” noise that some of these cars make? just curious…i’d like to add it to my “almost useless crap to know just for the frack of it” file.

I think you’ll find that it is the wastegate of the turbocharger.

Yep, it’s the wastegate. Some turbocharged street cars make a similar sound if pushed hard enough.
