True, but unlike a single filament incandescent lamp, there can be many variations of LED types and configurations causing differences in current draw between lamps. This can make setting the low threshold for detection more difficult. But like I mentioned, it should be designed in a way that accounts for those possible variations…

I had the same problem with a Chevy truck and a RAM truck towing my travel trailer. The warning comes on and disconnects the trailer brakes. The problem is the wire that runs through the trailer axles to get power to the brakes on the other end of the axle has worn out its insulation and is shorting out inside the axle. Replace the wire and attach them to the outside of the axle. When you pull the old wire out of the axle you’ll see the area with the worn insulation.
