I have a 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport (not the Grand Cherokee). I need to replace the heater core. Has anyone ever done this? How much hassle is it to rip out the dashboard. I understand the interior ac unit must also be removed. Does the whole dashboard have to come out? Is there a helpful manual? Thanks in advance.

The dash has to come out and it is a hassle. If you are going to do it yourself, start by looking under the dash at both ends to find the bolts that hold it to the car. It is a very uncomfortable job on any car.

With some cars, the windshield must come out too…Heater cores can be a real nightmare, especially if you expect the heater and A/C to ever work properly again…

This is a job for specialists…
