Does bad thermostat triggers the check engine light? The dealer said it’s the thermostat. (2003 Highlander 6-cyl).

yes it can, engine coolant temperature below regulating temperature

what was the CEL code? it should say it on the dealers estimate. without the actual code it is hard to figure out what is really wrong with it.
