Since the issue of removing the crankshaft bolt has been revived, I’ve wondered if the car has a manual transmission, it seems like all you’d need to do is put the transmission in gear, apply the brakes, block the wheels, and ratchet/socket the bolt off. Does that method work?

Well I thought 8 years ago the bolt was snapped? So now bolt head. Thinking of the hard time I had loosening that bolt with the timing chain not intact, don’t think an EZ out is going to do the job. Maybe weld a new nut on if possible.
