Hi I have a 2001 Sonoma. I just replaced my front calipers and pads. The rear wheals are disk brakes. I’m wondering if I have to bleed all four breaks. I’ve read that some vehicles have separate lines running to the master cylinder and you don’t have to do them all at once. Thanks for any answers.

If either the front/rear brake components have been replaced where it requires bleeding any part of the brake system, the entire brake system should be bled.

So that’s true even if the system has independent lines?

Yes!

The brake fluid in the rear brake system is just as old as the brake fluid that was in the front brake system.

Brakes are kind of important so why do you not want to do it right and bleed the entire system?

The fluid isn’t that old. I wasn’t flushing the system. Just replacing the parts. I thought I could just top off what I lost

How old is the brake fluid?

I’m pretty sure right before I bought it so a little under two years ago. I’ve put maybe 15,000 miles on it.

Then just bleed the fronts.

Thanks. I couldn’t fit my whole truck into my garage and I really didn’t want to lay out on hot concrete.

You could back into the garage, or am I missing something?

No I was in a bit of a time crunch. I’m going to get to it today or tomorrow.
