Although, the way the gov’t is handling the program, they probably wouldn’t care if someone thieved the motor/transmission from the vehicle before it went to the crusher. If I wasn’t getting the money I was promised, I wouldn’t care either.
Don’t sigh just yet, Ranck. This may be a blessing in disguise for you. IRS hasn’t waded in, yet, so that $4500 “gift” may not be all that great. You may be able to get more than $4500 for your wife’s car when you’re ready to trade and negotiate. In the meantime, seems to me the best course of action for regular folks to take when the govt shows up to help, is to hide the silverware. Or, better yet, don’t even answer the door.
