# Car shutting off in transit/won't start when shut off without 5-6 tries

Can’t answer without vehicle year/make/model/engine size and mileage. Different vehicles will get different responses.

When it dies, does it just quit suddenly or stutters as though gradually running out of fuel?

Have you had a tune-up? Is the CEL light on when the engine is running? Did you accidentally put Diesel in the gas tank?
