Sometimes when I start my van, it turns over and cut out twice, then nothing. It usually starts right up after I let it sit for 3 hours, but sometimes won’t start till the next day. Jump starting doesn’t work. I’ve replaced the battery, got a new starter, cleaned the keys with alcohol and tightened the gas cap. What could be wrong?

Gauges work sometimes and sometimes they they don’t. If the car is idling too long, they shut down.

It sounds like there is a power connection problem in the main accessory bus wiring under the hood. Make sure power is getting to the ignition switch when the trouble occurs. The ignition switch is also a suspect problem area.

If the gauges are turning off while the engine is running then power to the body control module (BCM) or possibly the cluster may be a problem.
