She was properly stopped, then bumped from behind and pushed forward onto the track.
With the way clear, ahead, why not drive _ **forward** _ 100 feet, park at the curb and exchange information with the errant driver after the train passed?

Darwin just missed erasing a few more… Better luck next time.

My mom and dad taught me to look both ways before crossing a street or railroad track.

Yes.
Even though mee-mool lights **(o)T(o)** are extremely reliable and fail safe, I always look and listen. (Although at **Quiet Zones** train horns are not sounded unless needed.)

Since she was heading toward a perfectly clear area just ahead, I do not understand why she backed.
Was it to undo the _“sin”_ of proceeding through the crossing after the gates were down?

The one I cross a couple times a week is mainly to serve short haul industrial freight. Oil tanks mainly. You hear it all over downtown but thankfully it’s only one line so you cross quick even on foot. Park that goes around Capitol lake with a waking trail parallel to the rail line. Usually in the am even on Sundays.
