When we put the car in park and turn off the ignition, we often can’t get the key out of the ignition. It doesn’t happen all the time, but enough to make it annoying. What’s wrong?

Worn out ignition lock cylinder. It may be under extended warranty because of GM ignition problems.

I had this happen to me out of the blue on a 1997 Nissan truck. At night, when I was a pretty good ways from home.

I was able to drive it home, but had to leave the key in it all night. Took it to the dealer, and they ordered me a new ignition switch (luckily, under warranty). Problem solved.
