I have a 2001 VW Weekender van with about 165,000 miles. After my mechanic started a rebuild on it (after a prolonged overheating episode) he said the engine is worn out per a groove on the cylinder walls upper portion and I need another whole engine. He is having trouble finding a used or even rebuilt one. Any suggestions or options you can offer would be most welcome.

Thank you,

Wayne Kasom

Seriously ? A simple web search appears to show all kinds of places that have reman engines . Of course you could call a VW dealer but plan on a lot of money.

Also not really a good idea to put your full name and phone number on an open web site.
