I have a 1990 Toyota Camry. Recently i took a road trip and ever since my caar will run very slowly whenever I turn on the air conditioner. I almost will have to floor the gas pedal just to get it going after being stopped at a stop light.

One possibility is that your A/C compressor is binding up, and making it very difficult for the serpentine belt to turn the compressor. You should get this checked before it seizes up totally.

Is it still cooling down the interior as well as it used to do? My understanding is that the coolant is also the lubricant. If you’ve got a leak, then it won’t cool, and the compressor could have more trouble turning.
