I have a 1992 Buick Century (V6) with 196000 miles. For the last 1500 miles the check engine light came on five times. Sometimes it flashes once, sometimes twice. It never happens when the car is moving. It only happens at a standstill, usually when I restart it after a short rest. Did anyone have a similar, but conclusive experience. I’d like to know before my mechanic to retrieves codes that possibly might be erroneous.

The codes are never erroneous. The interpretation might be erroneous, but that’s different.
