I broke my emergency brake cable on my 2000 chevy silverado. It broke before the cable splits to two wires to go to the two rear tires. I would like to know if this is something I can handle myself. My biggest question is how I get access where the wire attaches to the pedal itself. Any advice would be great.

If you have a service manual this is probably a fairly simple job. Just read the manual and follow the instructions.

If you’re going to try it with no instructions, good luck.

A Haynes manual is not very expensive. A factory manual would be better, but costs more.

Whether of not you can handle it yourself only you can say. Read the procedure in the manual, then decide; can I handle it, or not?

Dependingon what fittings and so on are on the new cable, I think you are going to want to use the old cable to pull the new one through.
