# Broken door latch

Driver’s door latch broke last summer. I had it repaired at the dealer: $250:(  
  
 Now two more latches have failed. Has anyone put in a replacement on their own? Can an amateur handle the replacement?

Are we talking about the latch that holds the door shut?
