+1 This is a great idea. I would only add to slowly push the brake pedal down until it gets firm. This will reveal a bad seal cup in the master cylinder.

I picked up my Avalon from the Toyota dealership last Friday. When I got in the car I did as advised - slowly pressed the brake before starting the engine - and the pedal was firm. I have been driving the car for about 4 days now and haven’t had any problems.
I am very relieved to have this behind me and optimistic that the issue is resolved.

So educate us…what did the dealer say the problem was and what did they do to fix it.
