My wifes 2004 Malibu Maxx has a problem that occurs when cruise control is activated. When driving with cruise control and have to brake the cruise control will not reset. After following on a road test I found that intermittantly the brake lights stayed on. The dealer changed the brake switch, but it has not solved the problem. Dealer hasv washed his hands of it, saying the fault cannot be reproduced in the workshop, DUH.

If you can consistently reproduce the problem, another try at the dealer explaining the process could be helpful. As your car is probably out of warranty do not be afraid to find a reputable mechanic for a second opinion.
