A lot of the 2nd and 3rd gen (2005-2023) guys are still rebuilding the 4 piston calipers on their Tacoma’s (and 4Runners and whatever else uses the same calipers lol)…
My 2005 4runner had major caliper design problem. After my second replacement I went with NAPA lifetime calipers. I think I relaced those calipers 4-5 times for the 300k miles I owned it using that lifetime warranty. All I had to do was pay for new pads and my time and labor replacing them. By my 4th set I got really good at it. I also replaced the hard/solid brake-line that connects to the caliper with a steel reinforced flex line. Made my life a lot easier.
How did the wheel move up and down with a solid brake-line to the caliper?
