this is one of those debates, like coasting in neutral, that will forever be debated on. There is no real right way or wrong way, just your way.
My way is to hop in and go if I don’t have to scrape off the windows. If I do, I will most likely use my remote start to get the window started on defrosting, then scrape it off after I’ve finished getting ready for work(usually 2 or 3 minutes from the time I start the car till I get outside). I try to remember to set the defrost the night before so I can have it ready if I need to use the remote start.
I agree. One of my first jobs when I was young was pizza delivery. I could only afford cars that others had thrown away pretty much. Sometimes I’d literally let my car idle all night on a cold night. One night when I didn’t trust my starter, I let my engine run for 16 hours, mostly idling. I scrapped a lot of cars, but all with high miles and never from an engine problem. Of course I was always religious about changing oil, making sure the car had clean coolant, etc.
