I appreciate all the replies. I wound up replacing all four tires with new Continental TrueContact Tour54 tires - happy with them so far. I know there might have been other ways to do this while saving money and getting more miles out of my good tires, but it just didn’t seem worth the risk/time/trouble. Glad I posted here asking for advice!

Buddy spent $1100 on Michelin tires for suv.
$2000 would include TPMS.
What tire shop puts in new TPMS sensors when you buy new tires?

Your tire shop may differ from mine…But if I didn’t have any TPMS warning lights beforehand, them wanting to replace the TPMS sensors with the tires would be a huge red flag for me. In fact, I’ve never had to replace a TPMS sensor on any of my cars, even when getting new tires.
At those tread depths all 4 need replacing. Do you have a Discount Tire near you? I use them, you can go to their web site and get a total quote for 4 tires plus TPMS sensors. I keep my cars 10+ years, have never replaced any TPMS sensors, by the way.
Once new tires are on the car drive over to a quality alignment shop.
As for tires, assuming you’re not cornering at high speeds go for quality tires with long tread life estimates.
Edit - Discount Tire has 4 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season tires for your car for $1070 installed w/o TPMS.

Says who? I’ve only replaced 1 TPMS sensor on my 11yo 2014 Highlander.

I have an 09 with over 120K with the OEM TPMS sensors, I also have a 17 with under 100K miles and I have already had to replace one TPMS sensor…
I will replace them as needed…

I was the one thinking to install TPMS since I’ll be getting new tires soon, and the TPMS are approximately 7 years old. I’m thinking the batteries in them will go out soon.
But you are **absolutely **right, **** I called Lexus and they told me the exact same thing you’ve said here.
No reason to change TPMS, unless one or two we’re giving problem.
I don’t know if discount tires is the same as Mavis discount tires. No idea if they’re the same company.
But I’ve been using Mavis for decades without a problem with their tires ( except for one incident where they didn’t want to honor a warranty I thought I had with them.
I like Michelin tires. Wish I had seen your comment before I ordered from Mavis. I ordered Continental

No, Discount Tires has an excellent reputation, UNLIKE Mavis.
I recalled you warning me about Mavis a couple of times on here. When I google “ discount tire”, I’m directed to mavis. And the web says “ Mavis discount tire “
I did some extensive research on this just now and discovered that discount tire is about an hour away from me.
I’ll try them next time. Honestly, I haven’t had a problem with Mavis with just their tires, but with anything else I don’t let them anything to my car anymore.

That’s because they pay Google to have their site pop-up when you google the name of a different company. They charge higher tire prices than most of their competitors, at least in part due to their online shenanigans.

The DWS tires have always been my go to tire if my company didn’t make a tire in that particular size (or that I thought was a good fit for them), customers always liked them, nice tires, you should love them…
OEM tire pressure sensors are so expensive that they are usually replaced as they fail. I have replaced sensors on the same generation Lexus IS you own, you will probably start replacing them next year.
BTW, Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires w/sensor replacement from Discount Tire totals $1519.
Quality tires for the IS300 with F Sport package are not cheap.
Discount Tire is in Pennsylvania, and you are in New York, try capitalizing the name so it is not a general term.

And for those who do not know, Discount Tire is the same company as American tire. and also bought tirerack in dec. 2021.

My daily driver is a 2013 with all 4 original TPMS sensors.
My wife’s car is a 2018 with 2 dead TPMS sensors.
The company I work for states that their OE TPMS sensors have an expected life of 10 years.
Seems like TPMS life is a crap shoot.
This was what I told the Lexus guy, that I expect the sensors to go out any time soon. The TPMS are about 7 years old.
He didn’t agree.
