ALFA made 180 Spiders with auto trans from 1991 to 1994. Since it was so limited they did not design a seperate trans but rather used an existing ZF transmission.

What other cars used the same trans? and what ZF model # is it? - so I can find one in another car if necessary

You might also post this on an Alfa site, lots of folks love 'em. (don’t forget the Great Brit. sites).

What would Great Brit sites have to do with an Italian car?

They drive them, so there are a good number of British Alfa enthusiasts that could help answer the problem.

This is a 3 speed – but if a 4 speed would fit it would be ok or even better.
