The battery on this 2000 Infiniti i30 won’t stay charged. The mechanic says it needs a new timing kit. Any way to confirm this for myself?

Did that mechanic also tell you that the muffler bearings need to be replaced?
If he did, that is a definite sign that you need a new mechanic.
