2004 Honda Civic Hybrid - Should I buy a battery?

I own a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid with 165,000 Miles. The IMA and Engine Lights came on the dashboard two months ago. Took it to the local Honda Dealer. The Tech cleared code P1433 because he said it was faulty. Drove car for two months then the lights came back on. This is a second battery. The original one was replaced in 2012 at 116,000 Miles. I am a retiree and don’t drive much anymore maybe about 30 miles a week. Should I spend the money to replace it? Please advise. Thanks. QC

That’s between you and your wallet. If you have the money, I would advise an all electric vehicle rather than a hybrid.
Or does your community allow golf carts on the roads?

Batteries are expensive.

Based on maintenance, ie, oil changes, 30 miles per week is likely short drives. Just my opinion an EV or golf cart (the most common EV in Florida) would suit the OP better.
I’m fine with internal combustion, but I drive enough to get the oil fully warmed up.

That is no reason to buy a new car. I have performed maintenance on hundreds of customer’s vehicles that were driven less than 1500 miles/year, I have never suggested they buy a new car.

As for replacing the high voltage battery: a Honda Civic will operate with a weak HV battery but might not pass an emissions inspection where applicable.

DTC P1433 means the IMA main battery pack is deteriorated and will need to be replaced. It will run OK and not break down with this code. The worst case scenario is the battery assist will be inoperative causing a lack of power. It will still run on the engine.

The OP asked if he should replace the battery. Just too many unknowns. I said depends on his/her wallet.
We have many communities that have golf carts as primary transportation.
