CarShop is owned by Penske. They bought it in 2017.
Possibly related to the closure of that particular CarShop location were very poor reviews by locals. I don’t believe everything that I see on the Nextdoor forum, but if even half the complaints that were posted were valid, then it appears that CarShop sold some highly-flawed used cars, and then they didn’t stand behind the 6 month/6k warranty that comes with their used cars.

CarVana’s had a few high profile issues as well, if I remember correctly. Selling stolen cars and not getting titles to the new owners. That seems to have died down lately.
I have no problem selling them a car… they gave me a check and took my car away. The check did not bounce and it was more than local places were offering.
