I’m not one to find it acceptable but am glad you mentioned it’s not causing secondary or tertiary damage
The % I mentioned was that I feel when my car wheel centers itself the steering wheel ‘looks’ like it’s 2% off perfect centering visually, not sure if that means anything
Four alignments now? I wouldn’t have suspected the struts I guess, and can’t see how the springs would do anything. I suppose the strut upper mounts might have gotten jarred but that should have been part of the strut replacement or inspection at least. So suppose the tie rods would be my concern but don’t forget there are inner and outer tire rods. I have had loose tie rods that were the inner ones and not the outer ones. Bent control arms? I dunno, getting expensive with a full front end overhaul, piece by piece.
If any shop gives you back a car after alignment and the steering wheel is off center, don’t ever use them again. Your instincts were completely correct. They are either incompetent or lazy.
Yep, I think all I’m gonna get done is new tie rods on both sides and both inner and outer, I don’t suspect it to be TOO expensive and afterwards I’ll see if anything changes
I also wanna thank all you guys for all the input!
It has made me much wiser and more knowledgable
You have given me suggestions I didn’t think of and have eliminated things I was thinking about causing my issues and potentially saving me a lot of money and more bad service as well.
I greatly appreciate the honesty, time and knowledge you guys have given to help me out,
Been very busy at work and been taking my bike to work, haven’t had any time to get my car checked.
I just took my car for a very short drive to the baker and back. And I’ve been hearing a grinding noise coming from that right front side, uh oh!. Sounds like chassis dragging against the road, but it’s not.
Maybe my wheel grinding against my chassis, but I doubt it, either way that’s not good, nor safe.
So, I’m a little concerned safety wise now, next time I’m driving my car is to my mechanic and nowhere else, I didn’t hear the noise driving in a straight line over bumps, but only while cornering, maybe CV joints?
I’m not taking any chances though, I don’t want ball joints failing, because that’s not gonna be pretty.
I’m gonna check the parts I can and prolly gonna get rid of this car altogether or fix my entire suspension
If it’s been wet in your area it may just be surface rust on the rotors. Allowed to sit, surface rust often develops on discs. It that’s the cause, it should go away with use of the brakes.
