I was hoping to pose a question to those with more knowledge than I on potentially selling my 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Silver Anniversary Edition Cabriolet. Although the Blue Book value based on the mileage is one thing, could one expect a higher selling price based on the fact that it is the Silver Anniversary Edition and is more rare? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If a potential buyer thinks the Silver Anniversary Edition is more valuable he or she will be willing to pay more.

Regardless of what the price guides say, the car is worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it. No more, no less.

Maybe you’ll get lucky and someone who has always wanted a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Silver Anniversary Cabriolet will pay $100,000 for it. Or maybe not.

Perhaps you should try some of the Porsche sites. “Silver Anniversary Edition” may mean a lot to Porsche fans.

Low miles and pristine condition always help.

“Silver Anniverary Edition” may carry some value (check the Porsche forums). If you can fully document a complete maintenance history that’ll be worth a lot.

Here are 5 1989 911 Porsches at Hemmings; one is a silver anniversary. Contact the seller and act like you want to buy it and get their asking price. BTW, the others are all between $27,000 and $37,000. How many miles do you have an yours?

It has 152,000 miles on it and is in what could be considered “good” condition. I have all maintenance records. Thanks for your reponse!

Note that all those cars have far less than 100,000 miles on them. The mileage will cost you, as will condition. You have to be honest. If you wanted to buy the car, would you consider it in excellent, good, or poor shape? Make a list of all the things you know it needs. Those will make your car less desirable. If your state requires an inspection, get it done and approved so that anyone in-state will know that it can be registered immediately. Any out of state buyer will also know that it can pass muster for your state, and that has value, too.
