Is it possible for a voltage surge in automotive wiring to cause a digital odometer to record a false reading? Example: Front end collision where the wiring harness was pinched and wires made contact with chassis. Several fuses blown out, car wouldn’t start. Mechanic replaces fuses and gets things working, but now cars odometer which previously had 100,000 miles read 175,000 miles. Vehicle maintenance and state emissions records corroborate a 100,000K reading from a previous month. Insurance thinks car was driven 75,000 miles in a month.

The answer to the puzzler is, they reversed the threads on the button concealer so it wouldn’t be detected by a simple twist test.

Hi there – I’m trying to track down an episode that my mom (Debby from Tennessee) was on around 1989-1993. She called in about her Peugeot, which she loved, and talked about her bloodhound. She has a strong Southern accent. I found the episode once on the Classics at one time, but I can’t seem to find it now. Help!
