A vehicle like this may come to your home 6-times a week…

When I moved to my home, 29 years ago, I had to pick up my mail at the PO for the first 2 months or so. When I asked why they weren’t delivering mail to homes on my new street, I was told that they “have to make sure that the street was in good enough condition for the trucks to drive on”.

After I politely asked the Postmaster if he was using Rolls Royces to deliver the mail, at least I got a chuckle from him, and mail delivery finally began about 1 week later.

According to my carrier. My mailbox had been at 35 inches for 30 years.

Seems to me I had to do one amended return but just used TurboTax to do it but it was within a week of filing so maybe that made a difference.

My story though, don’t blame the post office. I received a notice that I owed $3000 from 2018 and had till the end of the month to pay up or bad things would happen. So I sent a check and plead guilty. I waited for the check to clear and when it got close to the deadline, talked to an agent who determined they owed me instead. I stopped payment on the check that it took them two months in that famous Cincinnati office to present for payment, thus beginning a year long process between three offices, to determine I didn’t owe them for the check that stopped payment on. Believe it or not her name was badlee and received regular letters from her. Where i come from, payments need to be deposited in 24 hours, not two months. And then they give the agents guns and ammo. Even in the army, they gave us guns but no ammo.

Now my hats off to the mail carrier. Last year after a big snow, the guy parked the old postal jeep on the plowed road, and proceeded to walk the route on the unplowed bay. I thought that was pretty good. Instead of just holding the mail for the next day, walked the deep snow for the 20 or so houses involved. All for the 50 cents a piece.

So I’m not anti government, just for effective government. Hail to the chief. Happy Sunday.

I think we can all agree on that
