After getting gas car wont start

I floor it and it will start then dies when I let off the gas.

 Check engine light is on

Tank hasn’t ever been filled to capacity.

Weather the engine is cold or warm the same things happen.

Was the check engine light on before this problem? Can you borrow a code reader from an auto parts store and read the Check Engine Light code? Could be many things, maybe you got some bad gas.

I will get the code number if I can, shouldn’t be a problem. I don’t know if the light is a part of what’s going on it’s a friends car, I’ll ask. Thanks, I’ll return with the code.
