I have a 96 Nissan Sentra. For about 2 years, my wipers would only sometimes work on the slowest speed, but now they have stopped working and they NEVER work on that speed. They do however work on all the faster speeds. Do i need to replace the fuse or should i look into getting a new windshield Wiper Motor

The problem is probably with the windshield wiper switch.

you mean the actual little knob that i turn to regulate the speed… so maybe i would need to replace that?

Yup. That’s the most likely cause.

If you’re good with schematics you could check this out with a simple voltmeter or ohmmeter (voltage at the motor or resistance through each leg of the circuit) as you step through the switch. But if you were capable of that we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.

It’s also possible that the stepper switch routes the circuit through a remote stepped resistor network, and that leg of the network is gone, I really don’t know. I’ve never had cause to tear into this sort of problem.
