As soon as the temperature dropped below 50 degrees my Jeep started having troubles. It starts but only after very long cranking. My mechanic replaced the crank shaft positioning sensor and did a full tune up, but, this did not solve the problem. I noticed that the check engine light does not come on until just before it starts. After telling my mechanic this he now beleives it’s the computer. Does this sound right? I don’t want to waist more money trying to trace down the source.

Sorry, but yes it does. On most cars the check engine light with the ignition switch on idicates that the computer is “ready”.

Thanks for your quick response. I don’t mind paying to have it fixed, I just don’t want to waist more money on such an old vehicle. Thanks for confirming my mechanics diagnosis.
