# 88 corolla 5sp idle wants to die between gear shifts

my 88 corolla sometimes wants to die between gear shifts its got a carb. it boggs down at high speeds 60 or so. if i tap the gas while park it will rev like its supposed to but off the the gas it drops to 300 or 400 rpm. then recovers…or dies.
